Changes in version .9.9.1

  • Whitelist option now allows you to isolate yourself to only those on your contact list.
  • Router server capability added, allowing direct connects to multiple users behind a router.
  • Added user search to the client rather than forcing users to go to the website.
  • Client can now give a partial list of chatty users, showing also some directory info at the same time.
  • Conquest game now allows you to make a move using the mouse (click on the target square).
  • Focus should no longer be stolen when new conversation windows open (if not steal focus option is set).
  • Whiteboards are now scrolled windows, allowing you to use the whiteboard beyond your screen resolution.
  • Away dialog no longer scrolls to the very bottom of the away message when a long message is used.
  • Random color generation tweaked yet again to (yet again) reduce unreadable colors in conversations.
  • Flickering on the contact list eliminated (noticed mostly under Windows XP).
  • Show away and offline contact options have been moved from the contact list to the contacts menu.
  • Integrate, roll and help button moved into menus on the grouped conversation view.
  • Preferences are now available from conversations and chat rooms under the File menu.
  • Whiteboards now allow pages to be saved in jpeg format (instead of only png format).
  • Saving whiteboard images now saves size based on the content of the whiteboard, not the window size.
  • Less flicker on the buddy icon and user list when switching conversations in grouped view.
  • Recent *BitWise* logs now load correctly when a message from *BitWise* is received.
  • Conversation windows no longer display when processing buddy icons (prevents "random" re-opens).
  • Newlines now properly saved under Windows when saving a conversation.
  • Window background and text colors are not changable from Linux (or Mac), uses OS/WM theme colors.
  • Offline messages longer than about 530 characters now send properly (rather than reporting failure).
  • Windows now save position correctly at coordinate (x,0), (0,y) or (0,0).
  • Offline messages containing a <, >, or a & no longer disappear when being retrieved.
  • Help / Support and Forums links have been moved into the About box.
  • Can now add contacts by right-clicking on their name from the grouped view and chat room user lists.
  • Minor improvements to the tickle process that should reduce cycling into detached mode.
  • When online contacts are retrieved after initial login (refresh or proxy reconnect), statuses are not logged.
  • Away dialog that shows your away message now properly opens URLs when clicked.
  • Chatty status is now properly reflected and updated in conversation windows.
  • Contact icon now changes to messaged icon when the whiteboard is changed (like any other received message).
  • Various links to the website are now customized based on your private group setting.
  • When a user logs on in chatty status, corner popups, contact list status bar and online sound function correctly.
  • Local contact list and update time now saved when contact list fails to upload.
  • Invisibility is now properly considered when a reverse file connect request comes in.
  • Command-line option added to disable initialization of dialup manager (--disable-dialup).
  • "Interests" in directory info labeled "expertise" when logged in as part of a pro group.
  • New popups preferences page created under contact list page and all contact list popup items moved to it.
  • Chat room preferences moved to contact list page and conversation preferences visually improved.
  • Server Preferences descriptions now include description for Contact List preferences.
  • Dialogs icons can now be viewed from the skins preference page rather than a separate page.
  • Using an auto-expanding macro in linux no longer causes text to be erased.
  • Random disconnects eliminated in linux by better handling of native socket callbacks.
  • Fixed offline message count showing when messaging through the server.
  • Fixed offline timestamps to be correct (offline format change).
  • Fixed crash on Linux if you close Preferences with the X with "BitWise Preferences" selected.
  • Fixed crash bug that occured when trying to save a conversation from grouped view.
  • Fixed crash that occured when load random skin option is enabled and no skins are available.

  • BitWise is now cross-platform running on Windows, Linux and (eventually) Mac OS X.
