Away message
From BitWise DocuWiki
An away message is an optional message that you can include when you are in away status. The usage of away messages is arguably a society to itself with a wide range of common uses:
- Information about where you are and when you expect to return; "I'm at the grocery store and should be back by 4 pm."
- Favorite quotes or sayings; "Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering" - Yoda.
- Messages to friends or a specific person; "Erica, I'll meet you there at 7:30."
- Vague messages: "I've been dragged off into the real world, who knows when I'll return."
- Complaints about life: "This week sucks. First, I ran over my laptop with my car, and now my roof is leaking!"
- One-word updates: "Errands."
Anything goes, really. Just remember that away messages are public, and should not be considered private.
BitWise also offers extended away messages that are stored while you are offline.
