Determine your LAN / Local / Internal IP Address

In order to do any router configuration for BitWise IM, you must know your LAN / Local / Internet IP address (the terminology varies among different router manufacturers).

To determine your LAN IP address, please use the instructions for your OS.

Note: Your LAN IP address is usually of the form 192.168.X.X. If you have multiple entries, look for this one.

Windows XP, 200x, NT

In the Run window, enter cmd and press Enter.

Then, type the command ipconfig and press Enter.

The IP address is clearly labeled in the output of ipconfig.

Windows Me, 98

In the Run window, enter command and press Enter.

Then, type the command ipconfig and press Enter.

The IP address is clearly labeled in the output of ipconfig.

Linux

With root privileges, execute ifconfig from a shell. The IP address will be clearly labeled.

Look for the section eth0 or wlan0. The IP address is usually labeled as inet addr.

Mac OS X

Using the terminal application, execute ifconfig. The IP address will be clearly labeled.
