Tip: Searching your contact list
From BitWise DocuWiki
If you have a long contact list, it can be useful to search for a contact by name rather than having to hunt manually through your entire list. You can enable a search box on your contact list using the Contact List preferences.
To use the Search List feature, simply begin typing a name in the text box. As you type more letters, the number of contacts shown will decrease as fewer and fewer contacts have the particular set of letters in their name. If the name is not found, then no contacts will be shown.
Notes about Searching
- Group names will always be shown, even if there are no contacts from that group that match.
- When searching, all matching contacts are shown, regardless of your settings for Show Away Contacts or Show Offline Contacts.
- Searches will match both usernames and aliases, so if you have someone your list named BitDefender that you have aliased to George, searching for def would show George as a match.
- BitWise performs searches that are not case sensitive, so searching for mary would still find Mary.
- Searches can be found anywhere in the name, so searching for vin would find both Vincent and Marvin.
Tips & Tricks
- If you want to quickly show everyone on your contact list when you have either Show Away Contacts or Show Offline Contacts disabled, type a space as your search.
- When searching, pressing Enter/Return will open a conversation with the top-most showing user.
