Voice preferences
- Use input device
- If you have multiple audio sources available, you can select the specific device that you want to use.
- Use output device
- If you have more than one set of speakers or headphones connected, you can select which you want to use.
- Connection type / sampling rate
-
- Dial-up (8 kHz)
- Broadband (16 kHz)
- LAN (32 kHz)
- Faster connections are able to transfer more information, so faster connection using more samples per second than slower connections.
- Audio buffer length in milliseconds
- As described on the dialog itself, lower values are more real-time but are more prone to dropping out. Longer buffers are more tolerant of small disruptions in transmission.
- Show information / settings window when voice call starts
- If checked, the Voice Info / Settings window will show automatically when a call starts.
- Auto-accept voice calls if I am not already on a voice call
- Instead of waiting for you to accept a voice chat, this setting will automatically accept a voice chat invitation.
- Use STUN server
- A STUN server is required to use UDP Punching, which despite the scary name, is a very helpful technique for allowing voice chat data to automatically and safely traverse most routers and firewalls.
